About Our Story
At Hope Lutheran Church, our mission is to spread God’s unconditional love, grace, and mercy to all people. We believe in a Christ-centered community that welcomes individuals of all faiths and even those who do not identify with any faith. Our goal is to help others know and experience the transformative power of God’s love, leading them to love, accept, and serve others in Jesus’ name.
As a visitor, you are not only welcome but encouraged to become part of our vibrant community. We have various ministries tailored to children and youth, including active children’s and youth programs. We also actively participate in local and regional servant projects, women’s and men’s ministries, and Project T.O.U.C.H., which aims to address homelessness in our community.
Our history dates back to when we first started in the historic Long Branch Saloon in Old Town Temecula. Over the past 40 years, we have worshiped in unique locations, such as under oak trees, in barns, and even in parks throughout our community. Recently, our church community came together for a labor of love, spanning several years, to build our new “right-sized” church home.
Our current campus, located at 29043 Vallejo Avenue, is shared by both Hope Lutheran Church and our Hope Children’s Center Kindergarten and Preschool. We invite you to come as you are and join us in meeting the God who loves us all unconditionally.
History of Hope Lutheran Church
Founding and Early Years
Hope Lutheran Church was founded in Old Town Temecula in a location with deep historical significance. We began our journey in the Long Branch Saloon, a place that once served as a gathering spot for the community. From the very beginning, our focus has been on creating a welcoming space for all, regardless of their background or beliefs.
Locations and Worship Spaces
Throughout the years, Hope Lutheran Church has worshiped in various unique locations. Whether it was under the shade of oak trees or inside rustic barns, our community gathered to worship and strengthen their faith. Today, we have a permanent church home located at 29043 Vallejo Avenue, which is shared with our Hope Children’s Center Kindergarten and Preschool.
Community Involvement
Children’s and Youth Ministries
We believe in nurturing the faith of the next generation. At Hope Lutheran Church, we have vibrant children’s and youth ministries that engage young minds and hearts. From Sunday school classes to special events and activities, we provide a nurturing environment for children and teenagers to grow in their faith and develop lasting friendships.
Servant Projects
Serving others is at the core of our community. We actively participate in local and regional servant projects that aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. Whether it’s volunteering at a homeless shelter or organizing a community cleanup, we are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.
Women’s and Men’s Ministries
Hope Lutheran Church recognizes the unique needs and experiences of both women and men. We have dedicated ministries that provide a supportive and uplifting space for individuals to connect and grow in their faith. Our women’s and men’s ministries offer various activities, Bible studies, and fellowship opportunities aimed at strengthening relationships with God and one another.
Project T.O.U.C.H.
Project T.O.U.C.H. (Together Our Unity Conquers Homelessness) is a significant initiative that our community actively supports. This project aims to address homelessness in our community through various programs and resources. At Hope Lutheran Church, we are committed to partnering with Project T.O.U.C.H. to make a lasting impact and offer hope to those experiencing homelessness.
Worship Services
Variety of Worship Styles
At Hope Lutheran Church, we understand that individuals have unique preferences when it comes to worship styles. That’s why we offer a variety of worship experiences to cater to different needs. Our Sunday morning services include both traditional worship at 8 am and a blended style with a mix of traditional and contemporary elements at 10:15 am led by our band.
Sunday Morning Schedule
Our Sunday morning worship services are a vital part of our community’s faith journey. The schedule typically begins with traditional worship at 8 am, followed by a fellowship time where individuals can connect and build relationships with one another. At 10:15 am, we have a blended service that incorporates both traditional and contemporary elements.
Children’s Involvement
At Hope Lutheran Church, we believe in nurturing the faith of children from a young age. During our 10:15 am worship service, children aged 3 years through 5th grade are encouraged to begin worship with their families. They can then choose to remain in worship or participate in age-appropriate learning and fun activities designed specifically for them.
Hope Children’s Center
Kindergarten and Preschool
Hope Children’s Center is an integral part of our church community. We offer both kindergarten and preschool programs that provide a nurturing environment for early childhood education. Our curriculum focuses not only on academic development but also on instilling Christian values, character formation, and a love for learning.
Shared Campus with Church
One of the unique aspects of Hope Children’s Center is its shared campus with Hope Lutheran Church. This proximity allows for seamless transitions between the church and the Children’s Center, fostering a sense of unity and community among all members. It also provides opportunities for intergenerational connections and support.
Enrollment and Programs
Hope Children’s Center welcomes children from various backgrounds and walks of life. We offer enrollment for both kindergarten and preschool programs, providing flexible options to meet the needs of families. Our programs are designed to provide a well-rounded educational experience that nurtures the physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth of each child.
Small Group Bible Studies
Learning and Fellowship
Small group Bible studies are a cornerstone of spiritual growth and fellowship at Hope Lutheran Church. These groups offer a supportive environment where individuals can delve deeper into the Word of God, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions. They provide opportunities for personal growth, friendship building, and accountability.
Connection with God and Others
In small group Bible studies, individuals can establish connections not only with God but also with other members of the church community. These groups foster a sense of belonging and provide a safe space for individuals to share their joys, struggles, and prayer requests. As we connect with God and one another, we grow in our faith and build lasting relationships.
Hope’s Mission
Anchored in Christ
At Hope Lutheran Church, we are firmly anchored in Christ. He is the center of everything we do, guiding our actions, decisions, and relationships. By anchoring ourselves in Christ, we seek to build and grow our faith, allowing His love to transform our lives and the lives of those around us.
Building and Growing Faith
Building and growing faith is an essential aspect of our mission. We actively engage in ministries, programs, and activities that nurture spiritual growth and encourage individuals to deepen their relationship with God. Through worship, Bible study, and fellowship opportunities, we create an environment where faith can flourish and thrive.
Sharing Jesus’ Love
Central to our mission is the call to share Jesus’ love with others. We believe that God’s love is for everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. By reaching out and welcoming all people, we strive to embody the love of Christ and offer a place where individuals can experience His transformational love, grace, and mercy.
Hope’s Purpose
Reaching Out and Welcoming All
As a church community, our purpose is to reach out and welcome all people. We are committed to creating an inclusive and accepting environment where everyone feels valued, loved, and seen. Our intent is to break down barriers and share the love of Christ in tangible and practical ways, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
Hope’s Vision
Trusting God in Anxious Times
Hope Lutheran Church’s vision is to trust God even in the midst of anxious times. Life can be filled with uncertainties and challenges, but we firmly believe that God is in control. By placing our trust in Him, we find hope, peace, and reassurance, knowing that He will guide us through every situation we face.
Choosing Faith over Fear
In a world often marked by fear and doubt, we choose faith. At Hope Lutheran Church, we believe that faith is a powerful force that can overcome any obstacle. Instead of allowing fear to define us, we choose to trust in God’s promises and His unwavering faithfulness. By embracing faith, we can navigate life’s ups and downs with courage and hope.
Serving Mission over Comfort
As followers of Christ, we are called to serve. Our vision is to prioritize mission over personal comfort, to be selfless in our actions, and to extend help to those in need. By serving others, we walk in the footsteps of Jesus, putting love into action and making a positive impact on our community and the world.
